Well, the idea had been in my head for a while, but I hadn't quite realized how easily and simply it could be done. The Pecha-Kucha concept, as with the Ignite concept and even the rising popularity and awareness of TED were all more of an influence than things like Moth, Fireside Storytelling, etc., precisely because of the format and the gameplay aspects.

In a way, it was the Arena Stage "Devised Work" weekend that gave me the final push, and really the demonstration/panel event that closed the weekend. Not that anything in that event led to this or was even like this, but like the Neo-Futurists, it reminded me of the elegance of simplicity.

But yes, once I decided to try it, it was literally, "Can we do it? Okay." and doing it.

Love that you got the idea and tried it out right away. The format reminds me of Pecha-Kucha nights - http://www.pecha-kucha.org/ - where designers and others give lectures, 20 slides of 20 seconds each. The form activates the game-playing part of the brain, and the content rises to the surface.
